On November 8, 2014, an event was organized on campus to introduce students to issues of gender and sexuality as well as introduce the then newly formed queer support group, Vannam. The event was organized by IITM Colloquium forum and in collaboration with Orinam and Nirangal. Through presentations, interactive discussions, and the introduction of Vannam, the event fostered increased awareness, community building, and collaboration, contributing to a more inclusive and supportive environment at IIT Madras.
